Final Update #7 West Rocky View County Fire, May 1, 3:00 p.m.
The large wildland fire in west Rocky View County, north of Highway 1 near Township Road 254 and Range Road 54, is now under control and no longer considered active.
Rocky View County Fire Services and Alberta Forestry remain on site working in hot spots. With increased wind activity expected this afternoon, some flare-ups and visible smoke in the area are possible.
Residents are asked to continue avoiding the area while crews complete suppression efforts.

Update #6: West Rocky View County Fire, April 30, 8:30 p.m.
The brush fire in west Rocky View County, north of Highway 1 off Range Road 54, is now under control and no longer considered active. Crews will remain on site throughout the night and into tomorrow, continuing to monitor and address hot spots.
Members of the public are advised to continue avoiding the area while fire crews remain active.
We extend our appreciation to Rocky View County responders, as well as fire crews from our mutual aid partners, and Alberta Forestry for their swift and coordinated efforts.
Update #5 West Rocky View County Fire, April 30, 6:30 p.m.
Rocky View County Fire Services continue to respond to a brush fire in west Rocky View County, north of Highway 1 off Range Road 54.
Crews are holding the fire line and limiting further spread. The north and west flanks are under control, with crews focusing suppression efforts on the east flank.
Smoke in the area is beginning to diminish as containment improves. The fire remains estimated at approximately 20 acres.
Residents are asked to avoid the area so emergency crews can continue working safely.

Update #4 West Rocky View County Fire, April 30, 4:55 p.m.
Rocky View County Fire Services continue to respond to a brush fire in west Rocky View County, north of Highway 1 off Range Road 54.
Crews are continuing suppression efforts on the east and west flanks of the fire. The north flank is now under control.
The fire remains at more than 20 acres. Air tanker support from Alberta Forestry continues, with ongoing retardant drops to support containment.
There are no reported injuries and no structures are involved at this time.
Residents are asked to avoid the area so emergency crews can continue working safely.

Update #3 West Rocky View County Fire, April 30, 4:10 p.m.
Rocky View County Fire Services continue to respond to a large fire in west Rocky View County, north of Highway 1 off Range Road 54.
Changing wind conditions are creating challenges for containment efforts. The fire is estimated at approximately 50 acres. About 40 per cent remains active, with crews achieving roughly 60 per cent containment.
Residents are asked to avoid the area so emergency crews can continue working safely.

Update #2 West Rocky View County Fire, April 30, 3:00 p.m.
Rocky View County Fire Services continue to respond to a large brush fire in west Rocky View County, north of Highway 1.
The fire is now estimated at more than 30 acres. Additional water tenders and bush buggy crews have been requested from Madden, Bighorn, and Calgary. Alberta Forestry is providing additional air support.
The fire is located near Township Road 254 and Range Road 54. Residents are asked to avoid the area so emergency crews can work safely.

Rocky View County Fire Services is responding to a brush fire in west Rocky View County, north of Highway 1 off Range Road 54.
The fire was reported at approximately 1 p.m. today and is currently estimated at more than 10 acres and growing. Crews from multiple Rocky View County Fire Stations are on scene, supported by Redwood Meadows Emergency Services, Stoney Nakoda Fire Department, Cochrane Fire Services and Calgary Forestry.
Suppression efforts are ongoing. Residents are asked to avoid the area so emergency crews can work safely.
