Due to current conditions, Rocky View County Fire Services has issued a FIRE Advisory for East and West Rocky View County, effective 1200 hours, July 27, 2026. This advisory represents an extreme fire risk and will remain in effect as long as conditions remain.

During a FIRE ADVISORY, all burning and fireworks permits are suspended, and burning is banned, with the following exceptions:

  • Indoor household fireplaces
  • Incinerators (for farm and acreage use)
  • Burning barrels
  • Camp stoves (properly attended)
  • Barbecues (charcoal briquettes, propane, or natural gas)
  • Wood pellet grills
  • Propane/natural gas fire pit
  • Recreational campfires in an approved burn pit
  • Chimeneas
  • Fires contained within approved facilities and appliances in designated camping and recreational areas
  • Oil well flaring (must register with central fire dispatch at 403-264-1022)

Although this is not a Fire Ban, the County is asking residents to exercise additional caution and remain vigilant when conducting any burning permitted under the Fire Restriction. Residents are encouraged to thoroughly soak the area surrounding open fire pits with water before use. If conditions worsen, the County may impose a Fire Ban at any time. Ensure fires are not left attended at any time, ensure your fire is out, soak it, stir it, soak it again!
