- All materials must fit into the carts, with the lid closed. Materials that don’t fit may be saved for the following week or taken to the Langdon Transfer Site (fees may apply).
- Items in the black cart must be bagged.
- Items in the blue cart must be loose, except for shredded paper, which should be tied in a clear plastic bag, and stretchy plastic, which needs to be bundled together in a plastic bag and tied closed.
- Items in the green cart may be loose, bagged in compostable (not biodegradable) or paper bags.
- Carts must be off the street within 18 hours of collection.
- Sharp objects such as broken glass, knives, razor blades, and nails should be placed in protective wrapping or a puncture-proof container with a lid prior to disposal in your black cart. Needles and medical waste should be returned to the pharmacy where they were purchased for proper disposal.
- Please write your address on the space provided on the cart to make it easier to identify.
- Report a missing or damaged cart or change your black cart with our online forms.
Cart Placement
- Carts must be at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on their collection day. Collectors will only pass down each side of the street once and cannot cross the street or otherwise return to your address if you miss the 7 a.m. deadline. If you are unable to get your cart out on time, you can bring your garbage / recycling / organic waste to the Langdon Transfer Site (fees may apply).
- Point the arrows on the top of your cart toward the middle of the road.
- Place your cart on a level surface. In the winter, place your cart with its wheels against the snowbank on the street side.
Image

- Allow at least one metre (three feet) of clearance on either side of your cart(s) and between carts.
- Ensure there is at least three metres (10 ft) of overhead clearance above your cart.
- All garbage should be bagged and tied closed, as dust, ashes and small particles can be inhaled by the collection team during disposal. Loose objects can cause face and eye injuries.
