On May 6, 2025, Council directed Administration to craft a Terms of Reference to initiate a land use plan for the Sunshine Road area to provide statutory policy guidance for planning and development decisions.
On December 9, 2025, Council approved the Terms of Reference to initiate work on the Sunshine Road Area Redevelopment Plan and accompanying budget adjustment for Phase One of the project. Phase One of the project will consist of Administration completing internal research and before going to the community to discuss potential options to address the concerns within the area.
On March 25, 2026, an open house was hosted at Khalsa School for the Sunshine Road Area Redevelopment Plan project. The open house was structured to allow the community to provide their input on key considerations in the area via a voting mechanism. The open house also allowed the community an opportunity to speak to staff.
Next Steps
Following engagement activities staff will be preparing an Engagement Summary Report as well as an Options Report for Council’s consideration. Staff will be brining these reports to Council in the coming months with Council providing further direction on how the project should proceed.
