Manage Nuisance Wildlife with Our Trap Rental Program

Having trouble with nuisance wildlife around your property? We can help!

County residents can access a variety of traps through the trap rental program to help manage common nuisance wildlife.

Which traps are available?

The Agriculture Services department provides live traps for some of the most common nuisance wildlife species in Rocky View County, including:

  • Skunks
  • Magpies
  • Raccoons
  • Squirrels

Additionally, pocket gopher traps are available for sale at the tax counter in county hall. 

Please note: for all live traps it is the responsibility of the renter to dispose of or relocate any trapped animals. All actions must comply with provincial legislation.

Who qualifies for the program?

The trap rental program is open to all residents of Rocky View County. 

What are the rental terms?

  • Traps are available for a 2-week rental period.
  • A one-time, 2-week extension may be granted based on availability.
  • Available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Waitlists may be in place during peak seasons.
  • Traps must be returned clean and in good condition.
  • Renters are responsible for the care and condition of the trap during the rental period. 

Where can I pick up my trap?

All traps can be picked up from County Hall at 262075 Rocky View Point between 8:00AM and 4:30PM on business days. Please phone the Agricultural Services department at 403-230-1401 to confirm trap availability before arriving at the office. 

Traps must be returned to County Hall once the rental period is over.
