Community Funding Available for Wildfire Preparedness Projects - FireSmart Canada

Topics

Residents in Rocky View County now have the chance to receive funding for wildfire preparedness projects in their neighbourhoods. Apply today.

The Wildfire Community Preparedness Day Award gives 500 dollars to residents for simple, hands-on action in their neighbourhood. This could include things like removing brush, cleaning up yards, or organizing a FireSmart work bee.

Additionally, the Neighbourhood Recognition Program (NRP) Incentive offers more funding for communities already involved in the FireSmart program. New neighbourhoods can apply for up to 1,000 dollars, while those renewing their FireSmart status may receive 750 dollars. To be eligible, your neighbourhood must have a profile in the NRP portal, a recent hazard assessment and mitigation plan, and a clear idea of how the money will be used.

Applications for both programs close on January 31, 2026. Keep in mind that neighbourhoods can only apply for one of the two programs.

These FireSmart funding opportunities are a great way to bring neighbours together and make our communities safer. To learn more or apply, visit FireSmart Canada’s website
