Annual Street Sweeping Program

Location: Various Hard-Surface Roads within Rocky View County

Timeframe: April 12 - Mid June 2021

Description: Rocky View County will be conducting street sweeping on various hard-surface roads within the County. Please refer to the schedule for specific dates for each area and ensure the road is clear of parked vehicles, bins, curb ramps, etc. between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Inquiries can be directed to Transportation Services at 403-230-1401.


Site Access to McKinnon Flats Open

Location: Access Road to McKinnon Flats recreational area at south end of Range Road 274 south of Hwy 22X

Timeframe: April 15, 2021

Description: This area will be open to motor vehicles at 12 noon on April 15, 2021.


Bridge Maintenance on Highway 1

Location: On Highway 1 eastbound at Jumpingpound Creek (view map)

Timeframe: April 15 through Late Summer 2021

Description: Work consists of bridge rehabilitation including bridge barrier safety upgrades and wearing surface replacement. Speed reduction on Highway 1 through the work zone to 80 km/hr will be typical, speed reduction to 50 km/hr during night-time concrete pours. Typically two traffic lanes will be maintained, however, traffic will be taken down to a single lane for selected short-term work phases. Daytime and night-time work is expected. Elevated noise at night is possible, including but not limited to concrete demolition. Contact Andrew Neilson, Contract Administrator, at 403-354-4870 should you have any questions.


Bridge Maintenance on Range Road 270

Location: On Range Road 270 south of Township Road 260 (view map)

Timeframe: April 12-19, 2021

Description: Work includes installation of a concrete cut-off wall at the north abutment. The work will require intermittent single lane closures. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. Inquiries can be directed to Samuel Leung at 403-520-3994.


Highway 566 and Range Road 11 Roundabout Construction

Location: On Highway 566 1.6 km west of Highway 2 (view map)

Timeframe: April 12 to early September 2021

Description: A roundabout will be constructed by Alberta Transportation at the intersection of Highway 566 and Range Road 11. 15th Street NE in Calgary will be closed for a portion of the project. Please respect all posted signage and flaggers. Watch for workers, traffic pattern shifts and speed reductions. Highway 22 and Highway 758 (White Avenue) Intersection Improvements

Location: Bragg Creek (view map)

Timeframe: April 5 to Mid-May 2021

Description: Work includes milling, lane widening, paving and traffic signals. Lane closures will be required for southbound Burnside Drive widening and traffic signal installation. Alternate access to Highway 22 is provided via Balsam Avenue. Please respect all posted signage and flaggers, and watch for workers. QEII Highway Interchange (City of Airdrie)

Location: 40 Avenue and QEII Highway (view map)

Timeframe: Spring 2021 to Fall 2023

Description: The 40th Ave Interchange is a key component to the ultimate transportation network. The additional network capacity will reduce traffic congestion along existing arterial corridors, including access to QEII. Utility Work on Range Road 294

Location: Range Road 294 between Highway 566 and Township Road 263 (view map)

Timeframe: October 2020 to late March 2021

Description: Work includes open cut installation of a water and wastewater service tie-in with associated remediation of the road. Work will require a full road closure of north and southbound Range Road 294 between Highway 566 and Township Road 263. A full detour route with pertinent signage and message boards will be implemented for the duration of the work. Motorists can expect minimal delays. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. This work is being done by contractor Blue-Con Excavating Ltd. on behalf of the County. West Calgary Ring Road Construction Project

Location: Bordering Calgary between Highway 8 and Highway 1 (view map)

Timeframe: Spring 2019 – Fall 2022

Description: Work on roads with Rocky View County is not expected to begin until 2020, however the impact on Provincial Highways and City of Calgary roads bordering Rocky View County may affect residents of Rocky View County. Inquires/concerns can be directed to the Project website or 780-644-5612. Traffic updates, construction updates, alignment plans, etc. can also be found on the project website.


Southwest Calgary Ring Road Construction Project

Location: Southwest Calgary bordering Rocky View County (view map)

Timeframe: Early 2017 to Fall 2021

Description: No work on Rocky View County roads is expected at this time, however the impact on area Provincial Highways and City of Calgary roads bordering Rocky View County may impact residents of Rocky View County.
