Description: East-bound Trans Canada highway exit ramp is temporarily closed and detoured to accommodate work for the West Calgary Ring Road Project. Blowdown/Venting Notification for Bonavista Energy Battery Station

Description: Bonavista Energy will be performing a “blowdown/venting” operation at its battery station located within NW 2-28-2-W5M. Road Closures on Range Road 294 and Stage Coach Lane
Location: Sharp Hills (view map)
Timeframe: April 14, 2022 to Fall 2023
Description: Range Road 294 (Kingsview Rd SE) North of Township Road 264 will be permanently closed as part of the 40th Avenue interchange construction project (Map A).
This may have a direct impact on the Sharp Hills community. As a result of the service road closure, Rocky View County will be monitoring access to the Sharp Hill subdivision and may limit access to the Sharp Hills community to emergency access only by closing the North end of Stage Coach Lane at 40th Ave between Airdrie and Rocky View County using emergency gates. Construction of the 40th Ave interchange is expected to take 18 months and is scheduled to be completed in October of 2023. At this time Rocky View County will plan to remove the emergency gates and monitor traffic utilizing the Sharp Hills community to understand potential impacts to the Sharp Hills Community.

New Stormwater Line Construction within County Road Allowance

Timeframe: March 1 to June 15, 2022
Description: Works include Drilling and open excavation within County Road Allowance. This work is being done by Elite Site Services on behalf of the County. A detour route will be provided during intermittent road closures. Commuters can expect delays. Please follow all signage and safety personnel onsite as needed. AltaLink 150L Transmission Line Rebuild Project
Location: West end of the City of Calgary to the Stoney Nakoda Reserve
Timeframe: Fall 2021 to Spring 2022
Description: AltaLink is proposing to rebuild approximately 30 km of the 150L transmission line that runs from the west end of the City of Calgary to the Stoney Nakoda Reserve in Rocky View County. AltaLink does not anticipate any disruption of power to residents while the transmission line is being rebuilt. This rebuild is proposed to be constructed along the same alignment as the existing 150L transmission line.

Highway 560 Bridge Replacement
Location: On Highway 560 between Highway 791 and Range Road 275 (view map)
Timeframe: Phase 1: October 22 to November 30, 2021
Phase 2: February 1 to July 31, 2022
Description: Alberta Transportation will be replacing the bridge over the WID Canal along Highway 560 in two phases. Phase 1 will involve the construction of a temporary detour bridge adjacent to the existing bridge that will serve as an onsite detour for commuters during Phase 2. Phase 2 will involve the removal and replacement of the existing bridge during which time commuters will be using the onsite temporary detour bridge. The temporary detour bridge will have two 3.7m wide lanes with a speed reduction to 50km/hr. Traffic accommodation measures will be in place 24 hours per day. Motorist can expect minor delays. Permanent Closure: Range Road 294 at Sharp Hills Way

West Ring Road - 101 Street to Highway 8 Closure
Location: Between Lower Springbank Road and Highway 8 (view map)
Timeframe: September 17, 2021 until Highway 8 interchange is complete
Description: As construction on the West Calgary Ring Road continues, access at Highway 8 and 101 Street will close permanently in mid-September. The permanent closure is required due to ongoing concerns about unsafe U-turns on Highway 8. The intersection was scheduled to be closed this fall to allow for construction of the interchange in the Highway 8 and Stoney Trail area. Alberta Transportation will be implementing the full closure of the Highway 8 and 101 Street intersection on Friday, September 17th. As of this date, this intersection will close permanently. On-site signage and marked detours are deployed onsite to provide advanced warning and help drivers navigate through this area. Until construction of the West Calgary Ring Road is completed, alternate north-south routes include 69th Street, Sarcee Trail and Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail). Old Banff Coach Road, Township Road 242 (17th Avenue) and the Trans-Canada Highway (16th Avenue) are available east-west connections into the city. Drivers will need to adjust their commutes accordingly, allow additional time to navigate through construction zones, and reference City of Calgary Traffic Map and 511 Alberta before traveling.
