Hwy 22 Paving Work

Location: Hwy 22, N of Hwy 567 to Hwy 574 (view map)

Timeframe: June 9 to June 30

Description: Hwy 22:16 paving work includes milling, paving, approach/access repairs, guardrail removal, HTCB installation, rumble strips, line painting and message markings. Expect one-lane alternating traffic, groove pavement, temporary markings, and possible delays. Follow posted signage and flagpersons. Intermittent traffic control on Wagon Wheel Drive, Balzac

Location:  Intermittent traffic control from 292200 Wagon Wheel Drive to 292090 Wagon Wheel Drive on June 29 for a religious event. (view map)

2025 Pavement Overlay Program

Location: 100, 200 & 300 Heritage Place, Lochend Drive, Mountain View Close, West Meadow Place, Big Hill Spring Road, Twp Rd 252, Crestview Estates. Rocky Bear Place. Bearspaw Hills Place (view map)

Timeframe: June - September 2025

Description: Rocky View County will begin its annual pavement overlay program in June 2025, with completion expected by the end of September 2025. As part of this program, contractors will apply an overlay of the existing asphalt road surface to restore the roadway condition, enhance driving comfort, and extend the lifespan of the infrastructure. Dwight McLellan Trail Lane Closures

Location: Dwight McLellan Trail between 144th Avenue and Cross Iron Drive (view map)

Timeframe: June 2025

Description: NB and SB lanes will be temporarily closed on Dwight McLellan Trail to accommodate road intersection improvements along the east side and center median. Movement will be maintained in both directions at all times. Please watch for signs and workers while obeying the posted speed limit. Westland Drive Closure

Location: Westland Drive east of Range Road 292 (view map)

Timeframe: May and June 2025

Description: Westland Drive east of Range Road 292 will be temporarily closed to accommodate surface and underground improvements. Intermittent traffic control on West Meadows Drive, Westridge Park Drive

Location: Private event taking place with intermittent traffic control on West Meadows Drive. There will be crew parked on the north side of West Meadows Drive, and barricades set up on Westridge Park Drive. Intermittent traffic control expected; vehicles will be held for no more than five minutes at a time and there will be certified traffic personnel onsite. Sewer flushing in Watermark

Location: Watermark Phases 3 and 4 (view map)

Timeframe: May 28 to May 29, 2025

Description: Aquatech Canadian Water Services will be completing sewer flushing along the following roads: Damkar Drive, Rockwater Way, Stoneypointe Place, Watermark Ave (south of 134 and 135 Watermark Ave), Watermark Road (at the intersections Stoneypointe Place and Waters Edge Gardens), and Waters Edge Gardens. Flushing truck, vehicles and personnel will move from manhole to manhole within the roadway to complete regular sewer maintenance. Flag persons and appropriate signs will direct traffic around active work areas. Please respect all posted signage and watch for workers. Raw Water Line Repair on Bearspaw Road

Location: Bearspaw Rd, north of Hwy 1A (view map)

Timeframe: May 13 to May 14, 2025

Description: Rockyview Water Co-op is performing water line repair works on the east ditch on Bearspaw Rd. No lane closures are expected and both lanes will remain open to traffic at a reduced speed. For inquiries, contact Joel Adesina from RVC Water Co-op at 403-862-9727.


Road Update - Range Road 291 Closure

Location: Range Road 291 between Highway 566 and High Plains Drive (view map)

Timeframe: May 12 to August 29, 2025

Description: Range Road 291 between Highway 566 and High Plains Drive will be temporarily closed to accommodate widening of Range Road 291. Detour routes via Crossiron Drive and Range Road 292 or via Township Road 261 and Range Road 290 will be implemented. Please watch for signs and workers while obeying the posted speed limit. Dwight McLellan Trail (Northbound) Temporary Closure

Location: Dwight McLellan Trail (Northbound) from Nose Creek Blvd to Cross Iron Drive (view map)

Timeframe: May 2 to 5, 2024

Description: NB lanes on Dwight McLellan Trail will be temporarily closed to accommodate sanitary sewer and water connections for a development east of Dwight McLellan Trail. A detour route via Nose Creek Blvd Westbound to Range Road 293 Northbound to Cross Iron Drive will be implemented. Please watch for signs and workers while obeying the posted speed limit. Balsam Avenue - Private Event Requiring Intermittent Traffic Control

Location: Balsam Avenue, Bragg Creek - Between Highway 22 and River Drive N. (view map)

Timeframe: April 30 - May 02, 2025 - Traffic control will only be required for a three to four hour period on either April 30 or May 1, weather permitting.

Description: Traffic may be held for a maximum of five minutes at a time. All traffic control will be managed by trained and certified flagging personnel. Please be advised that both vehicular and pedestrian traffic will be noticeably increased on the dates noted above. Huggard Road and Range Road 34 Traffic Calming and Speed Reduction

Location: East and West of Range Road 33 including Range Road 34 (view map)

Timeframe:  May 2025 to June 2025

Stoney Trail Night Construction - Nose Hill Drive to Sarcee Trail

Location: Both directions inclusive of all lanes on Stoney Trail from south of Nose Hill Drive to west of Sarcee Trail (view map)

Timeframe: April 30 - mid July (weather depending)

Description: Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors have scheduled the repair and construction of Stoney Trail from 2000hrs and 0600hrs (8:00pm - 6:00am) beginning April 30. High Plains Trail WB lane closure - 1 lane alternating traffic

Temporary right lane closure on WB and EB

McKinnon Flats Access (Range Road 274 south of Hwy 22X)

Closure of Symons Valley Road between Mountain View Rd and 144 Ave

Location: Symons Valley Road between Mountain View Rd and 144 Ave (view map)

Timeframe: City of Calgary is working with all parties to get the road opened as soon as possible.

Description: Symons Valley Road between Mountain View Rd and 144 Ave is closed currently for a final post-construction inspection by the City of Calgary, and Shaganappi Trail between Township Road 261A and 144 Avenue is connected. South Cochrane and Springbank Areas

Highway 22 Detour for SR1 Bridge Construction

Location: Highway 22 between Township Road 242 and Springbank Road (view map)

Timeframe: May 2, 2022 to October 20, 2025

Description: Construction on the Highway 22 bridge detour will begin the week of May 30 to allow for bridge construction along the original Highway 22 road alignment over the future diversion channel.

The detour will be built on the east side of Highway 22. Bridge construction is located midway between Springbank Road and Highway 8, along Highway 22.

Northbound and southbound traffic speeds will be reduced to 50km/h through the detour to ensure the safety of commuters and construction crews. The public can expect minor delays for short periods during the construction of the detour and in particular, for the construction and paving of the tie-ins, before the traffic shift is implemented.

During paving of the detour, flaggers will be present to assist in directing traffic, and to limit travel disruptions.

Once implemented, the detour posted speed reduction will be 50km/h for approximately 500 metres of Highway 22.
