Temporary Lane Closure – Hydrant Repair

FORTIS Soil Testing Project – Langdon

Location: 41 locations in Langdon (view map)

Timeframe: November 4 to November 8

Description: Fortis Alberta is conducting soil testing at 41 locations throughout Langdon. This work may cause temporary pedestrian and traffic disruptions, though no lanes or roads will be closed. For inquiries, please contact Adam Reeb at Ambipar Environmental Services at (780) 988-5455.


CN Railway Crossing Repair – Kathryn 106.12

Location: Range Road 273, north of the Kathryn School (view map)

Timeframe: October 29 to October 30

Description: Canadian National Railway is repairing the Railway Crossing at Kathryn. Construction will result in complete road closure of Range Road 273 with no through traffic north or south of the railway crossing. Motorists can expect “local traffic only” and “detour” routes and signage posted. Please watch for workers and obey all traffic signage. Site Access to McKinnon Flats – Seasonal Closure

Location: McKinnon Flats Access (Range Road 274 south of Hwy 22X)  (view map)

Timeframe: November 1 to April 15, 2025

Description:  Access road to McKinnon Flats recreational area at south end of Range Road 274 will be closed to all users for the winter season. Access road is not maintained during the winter months. TWP RD 233 Improvements and HWY 791 Intersection Improvements

Location: TWP RD 233 at and east of HWY 791 (view map)

Timeframe: September 27 to October 23

Description: The work will include paving of approximately 530 metres of Township Road 233 from Highway 791 and going to the east and improvements to the northeast corner of the Highway 791 / Township Road 233 intersection. Also included are improvements to the ditches and addition of pavement markings. A portion of Township Road 233 will be closed for approximately two weeks during construction. Temporary Road Closure for Gravel Road Resurfacing on Rge Rd 12 North of Hwy 566

Road Closure on Panorama Road, south of Twp Road 274

Location: Panorama Road, for the 1.09km section south of Twp Road 274 (view map)

Timeframe:  October 14 from 7am to 7pm

Description: This road will be closed for all or part of October 14, 7am to 7pm. There will be detour signs and flagging crews to re-direct traffic. Please watch for traffic personnel and obey all signage. Inquiries can be directed to Bill Kerr at 825-425-0590.


Township Road 264 Bridge Culvert Replacement (Bridge File 13177)

Description: Bridge culvert replacement work. The work will require removal of the existing bridge culvert, and a local road detour will be in place (see map for detour). Township Road 282 Cattle Pass Replacement (Bridge File 81912)

Location: Township Road 282, between Symons Valley Rd (Sec Hwy 772) and Range Road 22 (view map)

Timeframe: September 30 to October 18

Description: The existing cattle pass is being replaced with a standard size cross grade culvert, and minor road reconstruction is required for the replacement. The work will require removal of the existing bridge culvert size cattle pass, and a local road detour will be in place (see map for detour). Please watch for workers and signage. Langdon Centre Street Landscaping

Location: Langdon Centre Street between Brander / Anderson Avenue and 3rd Avenue (view map)

Timeframe: August 26, 2024 to September 27, 2024

Description: Landscaping works will commence along Centre Street, Langdon, come late August and are expected to continue through mid-September. The work will include shallow excavations, rock work, seeding and planting on both sides of the road (see map). Partial lane closures may be required at times and construction traffic crossing the road should be expected. Please watch for workers, flaggers and obey all traffic signage. Range Road 260 Bridge Replacement (Bridge File 13544)

Location: Range Road 260, between Township Road 273 and Township Road 274, 5 km east of Irricana  (view map)

Timeframe: September 11, 2024, to October 31

Description: Bridge replacement work. The work will require demolition of the existing bridge and a local road detour will be in place (see map for detour). Please watch for workers and signage. Culvert Replacement adjacent to 262109 BALZAC BLVD (Rge Rd 10)

Description: Culvert replacement of the cross grade west to east culvert adjacent to 262109 Balzac BLVD (Range Road 10). Construction will result in complete closure of Balzac BLVD (Range Road 10) with no through traffic south of Balzac Way. Alternate access routes utilizing Range Road 11 and HWY 566 will be required. 4th Ave Road Closure - Town of Cochrane

Location: 4th Ave, South of Ranche Rd (view map)

Glacier Ridge – Symons Valley Road Closure with Detour Routes and Shaganappi Trail Connection

Location: Symons Valley Road and Shaganappi Trail West of Mountain View Road  (view map)

Timeframe: August 19 to December 2

Description:  Work includes development of transition from Shaganappi Trail onto Symons Valley Road (SVR), and connection from Shaganappi Trail to Symons Valley Road. Work will be done in three stages and the details of traffic disruption are shown in four illustrations (view map). Symons Valley Road between Township Road 261A and Mountain View Road will be closed, and Shaganappi Trail between Township Road 261A and 144 Avenue NW will be connected. Description: CN is upgrading the railway crossing and as such to complete the work there will be a lane closure. This will mean flaggers will be in the area and the roadway will be operating with alternating traffic.

Range Road 11 Shallow Utility Installations

Location: Range Road 11 between Highway 566 and 1.5km south of Township Road 264 (view map)

Timeframe: August 14 to September 20, 2024

Description: Shallow Utility installations will commence along Range Road 11 mid-August and are expected to continue through mid-September. The work will include installation on both sides of the road, with crossings into the Goldwyn development (see map). Partial road closures with alternating traffic may be required at times and construction traffic crossing the road should be expected. Please watch for workers and obey all traffic signage. Railway Avenue West Closure for BELL Canada to operate Utility Line Work. SE 22-23-27-W4M

Description: Bell Canada will be performing a “Installation of Bell telecommunication service infrastructure to service New Langdon High School” operation along Railway Avenue West located within SE 22-23-27-W4M. Description: H2O Innovation and Aquatech Canadian Water Services will be completing sewer flushing and CCTV inspections along the following roads: Pinetree Drive, Pinecone Lane, Pinebrook Way (East of Pinetree Drive), Lott Creek Landing, Lott Creek Drive (East of Lott Creek Landing, including in vicinity of ES Golf Clubhouse), 101 St SW (only in vicinity of Lott Creek Drive), Lott Creek Green, Lott Creek View, Leighton View, Leighton Lane, Leighton Court, October Gold Way, October Gold Gate, W Meadows Estates Road, Glyde Park, Lott Creek Drive (Between 100 Glyde Park and RR 31). Flushing trucks, vehicles, and personnel will move from manhole to manhole within the roadway to complete regular sewer maintenance. RR285 1 Lane Alternating Traffic – ENMAX Power Pole Installation Work. NW 20-25-28-W4M

Lane Closure Highway 22 between Highway 8 and Highway 1

Description: Highway 22 will have lane closures for installation of equipment on the two bridges between Highway 8 and Highway 1. Lane closures will occur during the daytime for 3-4 days with alternating traffic in place controlled by flaggers. Road/Intersection Closure - 84 Street NE & Township Road 252

Timeframe: July 9 to December 9, 2024

2024 Line Painting & Message Marking Program

Timeframe:  May 27, 2024 – July 31, 2024

Description: The County has commenced its annual line painting and message marking program. This involves painting of center lines, shoulder/edge lines, crosswalks, stop lines, and turn arrows etc. along the County’s paved and chip surface roads. Motorists can expect minor delays during the work. The County is using Line King as their contractor for the 2024 program and schedule will be dependent on weather conditions. Range Road 43 & Cochrane Lake West Upgrades

Description: Project resumes with scope of work includes grade widening, intersection improvements, borrow excavation, culvert replacement, granular base course, and paving. Rge Rd 43 & Cochrane Lake West Upgrades

West Ring Road - 101 Street to Highway 8 Closure

Location: Between Lower Springbank Road and Highway 8 (view map)

Timeframe: September 17, 2021 until Highway 8 interchange is complete

Description: As construction on the West Calgary Ring Road continues, access at Highway 8 and 101 Street will close permanently in mid-September. The permanent closure is required due to ongoing concerns about unsafe U-turns on Highway 8. The intersection was scheduled to be closed this fall to allow for construction of the interchange in the Highway 8 and Stoney Trail area. Alberta Transportation will be implementing the full closure of the Highway 8 and 101 Street intersection on Friday, September 17th. As of this date, this intersection will close permanently. On-site signage and marked detours are deployed onsite to provide advanced warning and help drivers navigate through this area. Until construction of the West Calgary Ring Road is completed, alternate north-south routes include 69th Street, Sarcee Trail and Highway 22 (Cowboy Trail). Old Banff Coach Road, Township Road 242 (17th Avenue) and the Trans-Canada Highway (16th Avenue) are available east-west connections into the city. Drivers will need to adjust their commutes accordingly, allow additional time to navigate through construction zones, and reference City of Calgary Traffic Map and 511 Alberta before traveling.

Highway 22 Detour for SR1 Bridge Construction

Location: Highway 22 between Township Road 242 and Springbank Road (view map)

Timeframe: May 2, 2022 to October 20, 2025

Description: Construction on the Highway 22 bridge detour will begin the week of May 30 to allow for bridge construction along the original Highway 22 road alignment over the future diversion channel.

The detour will be built on the east side of Highway 22. Bridge construction is located midway between Springbank Road and Highway 8, along Highway 22.

Northbound and southbound traffic speeds will be reduced to 50km/h through the detour to ensure the safety of commuters and construction crews. The public can expect minor delays for short periods during the construction of the detour and in particular, for the construction and paving of the tie-ins, before the traffic shift is implemented.

During paving of the detour, flaggers will be present to assist in directing traffic, and to limit travel disruptions.

Once implemented, the detour posted speed reduction will be 50km/h for approximately 500 metres of Highway 22.

Permanent Closure: Range Road 294 at Sharp Hills Way

Description: Range Road 294 at Sharp Hills Way will be permanently closed effective April 14, 2022. Please refer to the attached map for details on accessing the City of Airdrie using Range Road 294.
