Sharp Hill / Butte Hills

Sharp Hill is located just south of Airdrie on the east side of QE11 Highway. With over 100 estate homes, it is a acreage community with a unique story. Alberta’s only stagecoach robbery occured in 1886, where two masked men stole $435 and were never caught. The money is worth about $10,000 today.

One of the routes from Calgary to Edmonton originated in this area and remnants of the stagecoach tracks are located here. The Sharp Hill Preservation Society formed in 2009 to build a park to savour the history of this area.

Butte Hills is a quiet estate community north and east of Balzac. It is a growing acreage area developed on former farmland. Nestled to the east of Sharp Hill, children attend school in Airdrie.
