Rocky View County is providing an update following a structure fire at the Redwood Meadows Emergency Services (RMES) fire station.
At approximately 5 pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, Rocky View County Fire Services responded to a structure fire in Redwood Meadows. The fire occurred in a secondary building at the RMES fire station and resulted in a total loss of that building and its contents.
This included several RMES response vehicles and equipment, as well as RMES equipment used to refill firefighter breathing air cylinders.
Fire protection for Bragg Creek and surrounding areas remains in place.
RMES is a contracted, non-County service provider located within Redwood Meadows. RMES continues to provide primary fire and emergency response for Bragg Creek and surrounding areas under its existing fire protection agreement with Rocky View County. RMES’s main fire station building was not impacted, and RMES continues to operate with other units remaining in service.
To maintain public safety and service levels, interim measures are in place and will remain until RMES apparatus and equipment are replaced. These measures include:
- Keeping a Rocky View County water tender, a specialized truck that carries large volumes of water for firefighting in areas without hydrants, staffed from Station 101 to support the area.
- Updated dispatch plans and mutual aid plans for west-side incidents that include support from RMES, Rocky View County, Tsuut’ina Nation Fire (tender support), and Cochrane.
