Rocky View County is inviting residents to help shape the future of fire services by providing feedback on a new Fire Master Plan and broader Fire Policy Framework.
“As the County continues to grow, Fire Services are facing increasing pressure from rising call volumes, changing development patterns, and evolving emergency risks,” said Fire Chief Ken Hubbard. “This work will help ensure fire services continue to meet community needs while supporting safe, sustainable growth.”
The Fire Master Plan will serve as a long-term roadmap for fire service delivery across Rocky View County, including future service levels, response considerations, and infrastructure needs. It is part of a broader Fire Policy Framework that will bring together key fire-related policies, plans, and procedures into one coordinated approach.
The Framework will guide how Fire Services are planned, resourced, funded, and governed, while integrating fire protection into the County’s planning, growth management, budgeting, and long-term decision-making processes.
Key components of the Fire Policy Framework include:
- Fire Master Plan
- Fire Offsite Levy Bylaw
- Standard of Cover
- Fire Services Bylaw updates
- Municipal Development Plan amendments
- Growth and Fiscal Impact Model updates
Through this engagement, the County is seeking public feedback on several important topics, including:
- Proposed Fire Master Plan vision and goals
- Factors that may trigger service level reviews
- Proposed approach to a Fire Offsite Levy Bylaw
- Current and future service levels
- Community risk profiles
“Public input will help the County better understand community priorities and local perspectives,” said Regional Planning Manager Devin LaFleche. “Feedback will be considered alongside technical studies, fire service expertise, growth projections, planning policies, and legislative requirements to help inform future recommendations to Council.”
Feedback can be provided through an online survey at Fire Services Master Plan | Your View until July 24, 2026. Residents are also encouraged to attend an upcoming Open House to learn more, ask questions, and share feedback with County staff and Fire Services representatives.
