Rocky View County Council Approves 2026 Budget and Tax Rate Bylaw

Rocky View County Council has approved the 2026 Operating and Capital Budget, focusing on protecting services and maintaining essential infrastructure. The budget supports the delivery of high-quality services in one of Alberta’s fastest-growing rural municipalities.

County roads are maintained, fire services are responding, recreation programs are connecting communities, and planning and infrastructure teams are managing capital programs, while keeping tax rates among the most competitive in the Calgary region.

“Council has approved a responsible, forward-looking plan that invests in the essential services and infrastructure residents rely on every day,” said Reeve Sunny Samra. “This budget balances the need to maintain high-quality services with planning for sustainable growth, ensuring Rocky View County remains a great place to live, work, and grow.”

The 2026 budget includes a 4.14 per cent increase in municipal tax revenue to support core services, maintain infrastructure, and invest in key priorities such as stormwater and utility systems, as well as lifecycle repairs for roads and bridges. It also continues to support essential services, including fire and emergency response.

These priorities reflect what the County heard from residents during budget engagement, including the importance of maintaining core services, managing taxes responsibly, and planning for growth.

“County employees are doing remarkable work under pressure, and the residents of this County receive real value for every dollar they invest in their community,” said Chief Administrative Officer Reegan McCullough.

In addition to municipal taxes, the County also collects the provincial education property tax on behalf of the Government of Alberta. This portion of residents' property tax bill is determined by the Province and set to increase by 17 per cent in 2026.
