The Alberta Recreation and Parks Association has designated June as Recreation and Parks Month, and we’re proud to celebrate the important role recreation and parks play in building healthy, active, and vibrant communities.
From playgrounds and pathways to programs and gathering spaces, recreation supports people of all ages in staying active, connected, and engaged. Across Alberta, recreation and parks systems provide countless opportunities that enhance quality of life, promote lifelong learning, and support physical and mental well-being.
Recreation and parks:
- Strengthen families and communities
- Foster inclusion, belonging, and cultural understanding
- Support children and youth development
- Promote active, healthy lifestyles
- Contribute to economic vitality and environmental sustainability
Parks, open spaces, and trails also help preserve our natural environment, protect wildlife, and ensure clean air and water for future generations.
Join us this June in celebrating Recreation and Parks Month across the County!
