Grass Fire: Range Road 35 and Highway 1A

Update #2 - 9:40 p.m.

Rocky View County Fire Services remain on the scene, however hot spot mitigation has concluded for the evening.  Due to some minor hot spots, a fire watch over night has been put into place, although they are not creating an immediate hazard.  Fire Crews will continue to monitor the area and mitigate any areas of issue if they arise.

Further updates will be provided as necessary.

Update - 6:45 p.m.

Rocky View County Fire Services responded to a grass fire in the area of Range Road 35 and Highway 1A earlier today. Crews, along with aerial support and neighbouring departments, were active in the area throughout the afternoon and may have been visible to residents.

The fire is now contained, with crews continuing to address hot spots. The affected area is approximately 6.65 hectares. There is no risk to the public, and there has been no damage to structures or injuries reported.

Residents are asked to avoid the area while crews continue suppression efforts. Fire crews will remain on site as work continues.

With multiple recent grass fires and today’s response, fire risk remains extreme across our region. A FIRE BAN is in place for both East and West Rocky View.
  • No outdoor burning or fireworks.
  • Burn barrels and wood fires must be fully extinguished.
  • Even small sparks can spread quickly in these conditions.
  • Only safe, contained options like BBQs, camp stoves, and propane fire pits are permitted and must be supervised.
Let’s work together to reduce risk and keep our community safe.
