General Business
Council voted to appoint the Reeve as the County’s representative to the Alberta Rural Industrial Caucus (ARIC), and the Deputy Reeve as the alternate. The ARIC will enable former members of the Growth Management Board Rural Caucus to continue meeting to discuss topics of mutual interest and to develop shared advocacy positions.
Council received, for information, a report from Planning outlining the withdrawal of Kalina Distributed Power Limited’s proposed Lone Pine Energy Centre data centre project, ending Administration’s work on the area structure plan terms of reference.
Planning and Development
Division 5 – File: PL20250168 (08413004), Bylaw C-8746-2026, Redesignation Item: To assess redesignation of the subject lands from Agricultural, General District to Residential, Rural District to facilitate future subdivision of one ±3.24 hectare (±8.00 acre) lot (second farmstead out). Considered under the Municipal Development Plan. Approved.
Division 6 – File: PL20250099 (03225010), Subdivision Item: To assess a proposed subdivision of the subject lands to create a ± 1.55 hectare (± 3.83 acre) parcel with a ± 6.19 hectare (± 15.29 acre) remainder. Considered under the Rocky View County/Wheatland County Intermunicipal Development Plan. Approved with conditions.
Division 5 – File: PL20250116 (06427001), Subdivision Item: To assess a proposed subdivision of the subject lands to create 28 ±0.81 hectare (±2.00 acre) residential lots, ±4.99 hectares (±12.33 acres) of internal subdivision road, ±0.54 hectares (±1.34 acres) of municipal reserves, and a ±3.86 hectare (±9.54 acre) public utility lot. Considered under the City of Airdrie/Rocky View County Intermunicipal Development Plan, the Balzac East Area Structure Plan, and the SE27 Conceptual Scheme. Approved with conditions.
Closed Session
Council moved into a closed session to consider the confidential item “Chief Administrative Officer Update” (RVC2026-31) under Section 29 of the Access to Information Act (ATIA). Council moved back into the public session and approved motions to: 1) direct Administration to proceed with Mandate #1; and 2) direct Administration to proceed with Mandate #2, both as discussed and agreed upon by Council during the closed session.
Council moved into a closed session to consider the confidential item “Land Acquisition Request” (RVC2026-32) under Sections 26, 29, and 30 of the Access to Information Act (ATIA). Council moved back into the public session and approved a motion directing Administration to proceed with Mandate #1 as discussed and agreed upon by Council during the closed session.
Council moved into a closed session to consider the confidential item “Personnel Matter” (RVC2026-35) under Sections 20, 22, and 32 of the Access to Information Act (ATIA). Council moved back into the public session with no follow-up action.
