Council Decisions: January 27, 2026

Here is a summary of the decisions of Rocky View County Council at the January 27, 2026 Council Meeting. This is a general overview of decisions. General Business

Council voted to direct Administration to prepare and submit a CanExport Community Investments (CECI) grant application to obtain a Biofuel Development Opportunity (BDO) Zoning Rating to support the agricultural sector by creating value from agricultural by-products such as wheat or canola straw.

Council voted to approve the sale of the ±0.04 hectare (±0.10 acre) fee simple parcel (Plan 1310234) to the applicant, subject to:

  • A sales agreement being signed subject to the following conditions:
    • A purchase price of $3,000 as requested by the applicant, plus all applicable taxes; and
    • That the subject parcel must be consolidated with Plan 2166W and the applicant’s parcel to the north.
  • That all incidental costs to consolidate with the adjacent lands are at the expense of the applicant.

Planning and Development

Division 2 – File: PL20250085 (05828008), Bylaw C-8705-2026, Redesignation Item: To assess redesignation of the subject lands from Agricultural, Small Parcel District to Agricultural, Small Parcel District (p16.0) and Agricultural, Small Parcel District (p8.1) in order to facilitate the creation of a ± 8.1 hectare (±20.01 acre) parcel. Considered under the Rocky View County/Town of Cochrane Intermunicipal Development Plan. Refused.

Division 3 – File: PL20250056 (06822059), Subdivision Item: To assess a proposed subdivision of the subject lands to create a ±1.92 hectare (±4.80 acre) parcel (Lot 1) with a ± 3.23 hectare (±8.00 acre) remainder (Lot 2). Considered under the Town of Cochrane/M.D. of Rocky View No. 44 Intermunicipal Development Plan and the Cochrane North Area Structure Plan. Approved as amended.

Division 1 – File: PL20250105 (04835001), Subdivision Item: To assess a proposed subdivision of the subject lands to create a ± 4.05 hectare (10.0 acre) parcel with a ± 39.75 hectare (98.23 acre) remainder. Considered under the Municipal Development Plan. Council approved a Motion, referring Application PL20250105 to Administration until a time that the subject land is redesignated by Council to the appropriate land use districts to facilitate the proposed future subdivision.

Division 5 – File: PL20240068 (06324001), Subdivision Item: To assess a proposed subdivision of the subject lands to create a ±2.02 hectare (±5.00 acre) parcel with a ±62.73 hectare (±155.00 acre) remainder. Considered under the Municipal Development Plan. Approved.

Division 7 – File: PL20240201 (03223001), Subdivision Item: To assess the subdivision of the subject land to create 78 residential lots in Cell 1, 1 Public Utility Lot, and 4 Municipal Reserve Lots on ± 12.98 hectares (± 32.07 acres) within Phase 1 of the Langdon Meadows Conceptual Scheme. Considered under the Langdon Area Structure Plan, Langdon Meadows Conceptual Scheme, and Direct Control Bylaw C-6820-2009. Approved.

Closed Session

Council moved into a closed session to consider the confidential item “La Caisse Cost Recovery Agreement” (RVC2026-08) under Section 28, 29, and 30 Access to Information Act (ATIA). Council moved back into the public session and approved a motion directing Administration to proceed with the mandate discussed and agreed upon by Council during the closed session.
