Role of Committee
Provides ongoing elected official oversight of the innovative partnership agreement between Rocky View County and The City of Calgary with regard to Prairie Gateway Area Structure Plan buildout. The Prairie Gateway initiative will leverage the region’s strategic location and existing Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) rail network to enable greater interprovincial trade and global market access while unlocking new manufacturing, logistics, processing and distribution opportunities in a rail-served industrial area.
The Prairie Gateway Oversight Committee will receive information from, and provide guidance to, a joint intermunicipal administrative group established under the partnership agreement to ensure continued collaboration throughout the implementation and ongoing operation of this initiative. The Committee will provide a regular opportunity for elected officials from the City and County to discuss coordination of planning and development, coordination of approvals, efforts to secure external funding from senior levels of government, and to administer the partnership agreement.
