Update - October 2026
The Capital Committee was established in May 2025 to oversee the planning, prioritization, and financing of long-term investments in infrastructure and tangible capital assets such as roads, bridges, recreation facilities, and fire stations.
In Q3 of 2026, a review was conducted of the Capital Committee Terms of Reference and relevant sections in Part 8 Financial Administration of the Municipal Government Act. It was identified that the scope of the Capital Committee was limited and there would be value in the Committee having a broader perspective and oversight of the financial health of the County.
At the October 6, 2026, Council meeting, Administration proposed a new Finance and Budget Committee to replace the Capital Committee; however, Council instead voted to dissolve the Capital Committee and include its functions in the Governance Committee.
