Alberta Cracks Down on Wild Boar

Wild boar are an invasive species and a provincially regulated agricultural pest in Alberta. On Dec. 1, 2025, the Government of Alberta amended the Pest and Nuisance Control Regulation, introducing new restrictions on keeping wild boar in captivity and hunting them in the wild. The changes are intended to help control populations and reduce risks to livestock, agriculture and the environment. For more information on wild boar and the changes made to their management, click here.
