Protecting the Farm and the Family:
A Two-Part Transition Planning Series
Join Annessa Good-Hassard of Peak Heritage Consulting, Certified Family Enterprise Advisor for a two-part series exploring these interconnected areas of farm transition planning.
One of Annessa’s mottos is, “Succession is the transfer of a business, while Estate Planning is the transfer of assets pre- and post-death. Transition is a combination of both and is proactive rather than reactive.”
Part 1 at Beiseker Community Hall focuses on Succession and Part 2 at Lone Pine Community Hall focuses on Estate Planning.
The evenings build on each other, but each can also be attended as a standalone session.
Additional discounts for registering in advance for both nights.
Part 1 - Dollars & Dirt: Clarity Before Equity
📅 Date: November 26, 2026
📍 Location: Beiseker Community Centre
💲 Cost: $40pp (includes supper and dessert) or $140 for a family of 4 (add individual tickets if more than 4 family members)
Who’s calling the shots? Who owns what? And can the farm support the transition everyone has in mind?
Explore the family dynamics, business structures, and financial realities behind farm succession. We’ll cover management and ownership transfers, transferring land while you’re alive, compensation, family expectations, and the 6 D’s of risk management—plus a practical financial tool you can take home.
Bring your family. Start the conversations. Gain clarity before transferring equity.
Attend on its own or join both nights to connect your succession decisions with your estate plan.
Part 2 - Protecting the Legacy You’re Still Building
Date: January 7, 2027
Location: Acme Community Centre
Cost: $40pp (includes supper and dessert) or $140 for a family of 4 (add individual tickets if more than 4 family members)
Your will transfers ownership. But what happens to your family and the farm business?
Explore emergency will planning, transferring farm assets, access to land versus ownership, land and quota value, and business continuity. Through a “Follow the Asset” exercise, we’ll consider who inherits what—and whether the farm can keep operating.
You’re still building a legacy—even when you’re no longer here to guide it.
Attend on its own or join both nights to understand how your business plan and estate plan depend on one another.
