Does the cemetery have religious and/or cultural sections?
Rocky View County cemeteries are non-denominational; however, we do offer a number of religious and cultural sections at the Garden of Peace Cemetery. For example, there are Roman Catholic, Chinese, and Muslim sections available. Anyone, regardless of religious or cultural background, is welcome to choose plots in these sections. There is also a Field of Honour reserved specifically for veterans and their spouses, and special sections for infants and children.
Do you have to be a resident of Rocky View County to purchase a plot at one of the cemeteries?
No, you do not have to be a resident of Rocky View County, all three of our cemetery locations have available plots for purchase.
Does the cemetery allow pet burials?
Unfortunately, our cemeteries do not currently accommodate pet burials.
Are you allowed to disinter a family member or loved one?

Is assistance available with cremations, flowers, food and other arrangements?
A licensed funeral director of your choosing can assist with funeral service preparations and arrangements.
The Garden of Peace does have a Chapel and Crematorium on site, which is leased by Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services. Please contact them directly for information and assistance on the services they provide.
Our primary role is to provide interment options for ground burials and cremation interments. We offer several beautiful outdoor columbariums and a scattering garden where loved ones can be memorialized.
When should I contact a licensed funeral home?
In addition to contacting family and friends, one of your first phone calls should be to a licensed funeral home. Funeral homes provide expertise and guidance during this very difficult time. Among other things, funeral homes can help with:
- transporting the body
- obtaining a death certificate
- selecting a casket or urn
- arranging the funeral, memorial and/or burial service
- preparing the obituary
- helping to notify the deceased's employer, attorney, insurance company and banks
- offering grief support or directing you to other resources
Can plot rights be re-sold?
Rocky View County Cemeteries do not allow for the private re-sale of plots. Plot rights can be transferred to a family member or sold back to the cemetery. For more information, contact the Cemetery Administration Office at 403.285.0660 or cemeteryadmin@rockyview.ca.
If cemetery arrangements have been preplanned, what do I do?
Contact the funeral home, service provider, or cemetery administration office where the arrangements were made. They will have all the information about the cemetery arrangements and will provide assistance and direction about the process.
