History

Elbow Valley is named after the Elbow River which flows into the Bow River. The Elbow Valley was mainly an agricultural land settlement and it has become increasingly residential.

The Elbow Valley Area Structure Plan was adopted in 1997 and amended in 2005 and planned for a residential settlement comprised of major recreational components.

The Elbow Valley area is central to a number of parks and recreation areas in Springbank and the City of Calgary. Three golf clubs are in close proximity for golfers in Elbow Valley. It is also a popular area for cyclists with a dedicated cycling club.

There are no schools directly in Elbow Valley. The nearby communities of Springbank and the City of Calgary have a variety of education options to choose from.

Water service is by private water wells, and private water supply companies.

Wastewater

Wastewater servicing is through private septic systems or pump-out systems, and through the County's Elbow Valley/Pinebrook wastewater collection system connected to the City of Calgary.
