Rocky View County’s Emergency Management Agency works with County departments and neighbouring municipalities to prepare for emergency situations that may occur in the County.
When a large scale emergency occurs, the County will activate its Emergency Response Plan. The plan details the methods in which the County mobilizes its resources during a crisis. It also ensures all County organizations, emergency response services, and key agencies are fully aware of their respective roles and responsibilities.
Depending on the nature of the emergency, the County’s emergency response will include some if not all of the following services:
- Dispatching the Canadian Red Cross to attend to affected residents’ needs including temporary accommodation, transportation, arrangements for food and clothing, and other personal supports
- In large scale events, opening an evacuation/reception centre
- Providing information and assistance with rehousing (if necessary) and coordinated updates to affected evacuees
