Landowners Wanted: National Greening Program Tree Planting
Wednesday, August 20, 2025
Tree Canada’s National Greening Program restores forests and plants trees in areas that need them most, enhancing biodiversity, capturing carbon, and creating healthier environments. Last year alone, over 2 million trees were planted across five regions of Canada with the support of partners, donors, and landowners.
If you own 4 hectares (10 acres) or more of land that could benefit from reforestation, afforestation, or ecosystem restoration, you may be eligible to participate. Former crop rotation areas, meadows, grasslands, riparian zones, or woodlands in need of enhancement may qualify for a project.
Through the program, Tree Canada provides project design expertise, qualified forestry specialists, and funding support, while local contractors handle site preparation, planting, and follow-up monitoring. This means trees are planted at no cost to the landowner, with the expectation that the area will be protected for the long term.
