Rocky View Recognizes National Drowning Prevention Week: July 19-25, 2020
Friday, July 17, 2020
Rocky View County has proclaimed July 19-25, 2020 as National Drowning Prevention Week along with the Lifesaving Society of Canada, to raise awareness about the problem of drowning and the lives that can be saved with water safety education.
Over 400 Canadians die in preventable water-related incidents annually. Even one drowning is one too many. The Lifesaving Society urges everyone to actively supervise children who are in and around the water, to swim with a buddy, to avoid using alcohol and cannabis while participating in aquatic activities, and to wear a lifejacket at all times while boating. You can save a life, yours and someone else’s by taking a learn-to-swim, lifesaving or first aid class.
