UofC Study Participants Needed: Beneficial Insects in Restored Spaces

The Galpern Lab at the University of Calgary is currently conducting a study to examine how beneficial insects (both pollinators and predators of crop pests) return to restored spaces in Alberta agro-ecosystems. As part of this study they are looking for a few crop fields which contain a pothole or wetland that have been seeded with canola for the 2018 season.

Sampling involves placing an insect trap on the property from the end of May through August. The traps are made of plastic and won't damage machinery. Traps will be emptied at several points throughout the season and removed prior to swathing. All access will be on foot.

If you have a quarter section in which you would be willing to let them sample, please contact Jess Vickruck at 403-220-3465 or email jess.vickruck1@ucalgary.ca.
