Accessibility widget

We are excited to announce that we have implemented a new tool on our website in order to improve its accessibility and provide better access to information and resources for all users. With this enhancement to our website, we are taking an important step towards ensuring that everyone can access our online content and services, regardless of their abilities.

When visiting, you will now see a small person shaped icon on the righthand side. Selecting this icon will allow a user to choose their accessibility options. Some key benefits of this implementation include:

  • Improved navigation: enables users with visual impairments or motor disabilities to navigate our website more easily, through features such as keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, and text-to-speech functionality.
  • Enhanced content readability: allows users to customize the appearance of our website to better suit their needs, with options to adjust text size, font, and color contrast.
  • Compliance with accessibility standards: our municipal website is now compliant with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, as well as other international accessibility standards.

This solution is designed to make digital content more accessible for people with disabilities. With 22% of Canadians living with a disability, this implementation empowers us to create an inclusive online environment, enabling all users to access our content and services without barriers.

We encourage you to explore this new accessibility feature and share the information with those who might benefit from these improvements. Your feedback and suggestions for further enhancing the accessibility of our services are always greatly appreciated.
