Collaborative approach towards an industrial growth corridor for Calgary and Rocky View County

Rocky View County and the City of Calgary are pleased to announce a step forward in building a collaborative relationship that will generate economic development opportunities, as well as create more sustainable methods of industrial growth, to benefit both municipalities and the Calgary Metropolitan Region.

The Annexation Negotiation Committee established between Rocky View County and Calgary met on Monday, January 16th, 2023, to investigate how an important industrial growth corridor can best be developed along Calgary’s southeast boundary, ensuring that the region remains a significant inland port and encourages broader opportunities in all sectors. The growth of logistics centres, shipping hubs, manufacturing facilities, film production, and a variety of other industries remains a priority in the Calgary Metropolitan Region. This renewed united approach will demonstrate how strong intermunicipal relationships can benefit our citizens and the economy.

“Rocky View County recognizes that by working collaboratively with our partners at the City of Calgary we can advance significant economic opportunities across municipal boundaries. I believe that this cooperative approach will benefit residents and businesses across the region.”

Mayor Crystal Kissel, Rocky View County

“It’s been encouraging to see councillors from Calgary and Rocky View County demonstrate an interest in collaboration that increases regional efficiency and attracts greater investment.”

Mayor Jyoti Gondek, City of Calgary
