Rocky View County Welcomes New Fire Chief

Rocky View County is pleased to welcome Ken Hubbard as the new Fire Chief for the County.

The announcement was made by Mayor Crystal Kissel at the December 13 Council meeting, following the earlier retirement of Fire Chief Randy Smith.

“Thank you, Chief Smith, for the extraordinary leadership you have shown during your time at Rocky View County. You will be greatly missed, but after 42 years in the Fire Services, this is certainly a well-deserved retirement,” said Mayor Kissel.

“The County and Fire Services is fortunate to be transitioning from one great leader to another. Chief Hubbard has made a career out of learning, mentoring, empowering others and serving the community. We have every confidence in his new appointment as Rocky View County Fire Chief.”

Chief Hubbard spent 35 years in Fire Services with the City of Airdrie and 17 years as a Chief Officer. He joined the County in March 2021 as a District Fire Chief in charge of training and volunteer stations before becoming Deputy Fire Chief and now Fire Chief.

Welcome Chief Hubbard!
