Rocky View County to Observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Rocky View County is proud to join communities across Canada to observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In response to Call to Action 80 from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, our offices will be closed on September 30th.

Deputy Mayor Crystal Kissel says, “As a County, we have much to do on the path to reconciliation. Education and awareness are important first steps. As a municipality we are offering training to all staff so that we can collectively begin to understand our role in reconciliation.”

We encourage all residents, business, and employees to embrace opportunities for education, reflection, and commitment to our professional and individual roles in advancing reconciliation in Canada.

On September 30, and every day, please do your part to commemorate truth and reconciliation, recognize Canada’s tragic and painful history towards our Indigenous Peoples, and honour the lost children and survivors of residential schools, their families, and communities.
