Rocky View County 2021 Election Candidates

Nineteen people have declared their candidacy in the upcoming municipal election. The list of candidates was official at noon today and those names will appear on the October 18 ballot.

A key change for the upcoming election is updated electoral divisions for the County. In October 2020, Rocky View County Council passed the Electoral Boundaries and Council Composition Bylaw that reduced the number of councillors from nine to seven, and adjusted the electoral divisions to better balance the number of people in each.

The following people running for election are listed in alphabetical order for each of the seven Rocky View County electoral divisions:

Division 1

  • Kevin Robert Hanson
  • Brent Moore

Division 2

  • Don Kochan
  • Kim McKylor

Division 3

  • Jolene Airth
  • Crystal Kissel

Division 4

  • Dan Henn
  • Roc Spence
  • Samanntha Wright

Division 5

  • Greg Boehlke
  • Ted Francois
  • Mark Jette
  • John McMurray

Division 6

  • Rolly Ashdown
  • Jerry Gautreau
  • Sunny Samra
  • Jeremy Stinson

Division 7

  • Alysha Bates
  • Al Schule

Under Rocky View County’s system, a mayor is chosen every two years and a deputy mayor each year, by councillors from among their council. Therefore, in the Municipal Election, residents vote only for their councillor.
