Council Appoints Interim Chief Administrative Officer

Rocky View County Council has appointed Kent Robinson as acting Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).

Mr. Robinson has over 35 years of experience in a number of key leadership roles with Rocky View County, and currently serves as the municipality’s Executive Director of Corporate Services.

The appointment was prompted by the resignation of CAO Al Hoggan, effective April 13.  The interim appointment of Mr. Robinson will allow councillors time to discuss how they want to move forward with the CAO position in the long term.

“With the depth of experience we have in Mr. Robinson, we knew that Administration would be in good hands, and that there will be continuity in Council’s direction for the County.  That helps give us the time we need to carefully consider next steps in recruiting a CAO,” says Reeve Dan Henn.

Under the Municipal Government Act, all Alberta municipalities must have a Chief Administrative Officer, who serves as a council’s sole employee and head of administration.  A council gives its direction to municipal staff through the CAO.
