Assessment Notices Mailed

Rocky View County 2021 Property Assessment Notices were mailed on January 22, 2021. Property owners have until Tuesday, April 6, 2021 to review their notice and notify the County if they have questions or concerns.

The County’s 2021 assessment base increased by $97 million to $18.748 billion, demonstrating that Rocky View County remains an attractive place to live, invest, and do business, while solidifying the County as the fifth-largest assessment base in Alberta. A large assessment base, as well as the County’s favourable assessment mix of 72% residential and 28% non-residential properties, helps the County to maintain competitive tax rates and provide valued services.

Assessment notices are based on a property’s market value as of July 1, 2020 and physical condition as of December 31, 2020. The assessed value is multiplied by the respective tax rate set by Council in the spring to calculate the amount of property tax owing.

Within specific assessment classes, the industrial sector remained stable with several new developments, while the retail sector saw a minor decline in value. The residential sector, which includes average single-family homes to high-end custom acreages, remained stable overall with individual property values showing minor year-over-year decreases or increases.
