Rocky View County Donates Fire Truck to Los Amigos Project

Rocky View County is donating a used fire truck to the Rotary Clubs of Airdrie and Lethbridge Sunrise, in support of the Los Amigos Project in Mexico. The Los Amigos Project is a Rotary International service project organized and supported by Rotary clubs from across southern Alberta.

“It’s good to know that we can help others out,” said Rocky View County Reeve Greg Boehlke, after Council unanimously voted to approve the donation.

The 1991 GMC fire truck is mechanically fit but no longer part of the County’s fleet. Today’s donation marks the second time the County has participated in the Los Amigos project in recent years.

Since 2011, Los Amigos has been coordinating the donation of decommissioned Canadian vehicles including fire trucks, ambulances, and handi-buses. The vehicles provide emergency and transportation services to both urban and rural areas of Mexico and play a vital role in developing safe, healthy communities.
