Council Decisions: June 26, 2018

Here is a brief summary of the decisions of Rocky View County Council at the June 26, 2018 Council Meeting. This is a general overview of decisions only. Specific details can be found in this meeting’s agenda (see the Council Minutes and Archives page), or in the minutes of this meeting that will be printed in the next Council Meeting agenda. General Business

  • Council voted to approve $3,425 in emergency funding to the Langdon Community Association for the replacement of the Langdon Fieldhouse water well pump and power line. The funding will come from the Bow North Recreation Reserve Account.
  • Council voted to approve up to $67,000 to fund a Watch Clerk position with the Strathmore RCMP, on a trial basis. The position will take on administrative duties, allowing constables more time for community policing. The funding will come from the General Reserve.
  • Council voted to approve an overall Inter-Municipal Collaboration Framework Terms of Reference for Rural Municipalities to guide the County’s participation in the creating collaboration agreements with the M.D. of Bighorn, Kneehill County, Mountain View County, and Wheatland County. The agreements are required under the Province’s revisions to the Municipal Government Act.
  • Council voted to approve individual Inter-Municipal Development Plan Terms of Reference for the M.D. of Bighorn, Mountain View County, Kneehill County, and Wheatland County. These Terms of Reference documents guide the creation of agreements to minimize land use and development conflicts, develop collaboration opportunities, and resolve issues. The agreements are required under the Province’s revisions to the Municipal Government Act.

Bylaws

  • Council approved a Council Code of Conduct Bylaw (C-7768-2018) and rescinded the existing Council Code of Conduct Policy (194). Recent changes to the Municipal Government Act require all Alberta municipalities to adopt a council code of conduct as a bylaw.

Planning and Development

  • Division 4 – File PL20170134 (03316008), Bylaw C-7790-2018, Re-designation Item: Residential Two District to Business Industrial Campus District. Considered under the County Plan. Received First Reading. Additional readings for approval or refusal will be considered at an unspecified future date, after the applicant has provided additional information.
  • Division 5 – File PL20180027 (04319049), Bylaw C-7785-2018, Re-designation Item: Site Specific Amendment to Direct Control Bylaw C-5250-2000 (DC-11). Approved.
