Snow Fence Installation Begins

Rocky View County road crews will begin installing temporary snow fencing this week on County roads. This fencing helps reduce snow drifts on the road. Work will continue until the end of November.

Snow fences are typically:

  • Installed before ground frost sets too deep
  • Placed 25 to 35 metres from the edge of the road
  • Stand 1.2 metres tall

The County has sent notifications to all affected landowners to let them know if road crews need to enter private property to install a temporary snow fence. Crews will not enter lands where obvious farming is underway.
