Funding Cochrane-Based Recreation

Rocky View County Reeve Greg Boehlke and Councillor Bruce Kendall present a cheque to Robin Mitchell (centre) of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre. The County’s voluntary funding of the Cochrane facility now totals over $3.5 million.

On May 23, Rocky View County Council approved $141,950 in funding for the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre in Cochrane. The County has now contributed a total of over $3.5 million to the facility in operating and capital funding.

Rocky View County is unique in providing millions of dollars in voluntary funding to six of its neighbouring municipalities for recreation facilities and programs that County residents use. The contributions are a part of the County’s ongoing “good neighbour” approach to regional planning and inter-municipal co-operation.
