Conrich Area Structure Plan Appealed

The City of Calgary and the City of Chestermere have filed notices of appeal with the Alberta Municipal Government Board against the Conrich Area Structure Plan (ASP), which was approved by Rocky View County Council on December 8, 2015.

The County made multiple attempts to resolve the concerns both cities expressed during the multi-year ASP process, but had difficulty getting Calgary or Chestermere to specifically identify issues and commit to possible solutions. County Council passed the Conrich Area Structure Plan with the full understanding that the two cities might appeal the plan, but welcome the move as a way to require Calgary and Chestermere to detail their specific concerns. That allows Rocky View County to specifically address those concerns though the Municipal Government Board’s process.

The County has acted in good faith throughout the process of developing the Conrich Area Structure Plan, and will continue to do so as it enters mediation with the two neighbouring cities.

Visit the Conrich Area Structure Plan page for more information, and to view the appeals and Rocky View County’s statutory declarations.
