Does Bragg Creek need a bylaw to help reduce human-wildlife interactions?

The County has heard concerns about human-wildlife interactions in the community—especially those involving unsecured garbage and other potential wildlife attractants. In response, we are conducting public engagement to learn from the community whether a dedicated garbage bylaw or alternative measures could help address these concerns.

While garbage is a factor in human-wildlife conflicts, it’s only part of the issue. A garbage-specific bylaw alone may not address the full scope of the problem. The County is engaging the public to understand community concerns, experiences, and priorities before drafting options for further Council consideration.

Residents are being asked to provide feedback through public engagement:

  • Attend the open house for the Bragg Creek Area Structure Plan to speak directly with staff and provide feedback

  • April 16, 6:30pm-9pm at the Bragg Creek Community Centre

We hope to hear all points of view to make informed decisions that make sense for the community.
