Council Decisions: February 4, 2025

Here is a summary of the decisions of Rocky View County Council at the February 4, 2025 Council Meeting. This is a general overview of decisions only. General Business

Administration voted to approve the revised Terms of Reference for the developer-led and wholly developer-funded Langdon Area Structure Plan amendment comprising specific updates to project timelines.

Council voted to approve amendments to the Council Compensation and Expense Reimbursement Policy C-195 to align health spending account contributions for elected officials with those of employees and increase the elected officials' pension contribution amount. The related budget adjustments will be considered during spring budget finalization.

Council voted to affirm its commitment to participating in comprehensive respectful workplace training to ensure a harassment free work environment and promote awareness and empowerment of employees.

Planning and Development

Division 5 - File: PL20240153 (06532004), Bylaw C-8601-2025, Redesignation Item: To assess redesignation of a portion of the subject lands from Agricultural General District to Agriculture, Small Parcel District (p8.1) to facilitate future subdivision of one ± 8.17 hectare (± 20.18 acre) parcel. Considered under the County Plan. Approved.

Division 5 – File: PL20230052/55 (06409001 & 06409009), Bylaw C-8560-2024, Local Plan and Redesignation Item: To consider a Master Site Development Plan and Redesignation applications to facilitate business development within the Balzac East Area Structure Plan. PL20230052 - To adopt the CrossIron Mills East Master Site Development Plan, which guides future development, supporting a range of commercial, business and industrial uses on the subject lands. PL20230055 - To remove Cell A-6 from Direct Control Bylaw C-6234-2006 (DC-109) and redesignate a portion of the subject lands from DC-109 to Industrial, Heavy District with site-specific amendments; Industrial, Heavy District; and, Special, Public Service District. Considered under the Balzac East Area Structure Plan. Approved as amended.

Division 1 – File: PL20240080 (04618033), Subdivision Item: to assess subdivision of the subject lands to create one ±0.965 hectare (±2.38 acre) lot with a ±0.917 hectare (±2.27 acre) remainder. Considered under the Central Springbank Area Structure Plan, and the Robinson Road Conceptual Scheme. Approved with conditions.

Closed Session

Council moved into a closed session to consider the confidential item “Intergovernmental Update” under Sections 21 and 24 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). Council moved back into the public session, and approved for the Reeve to follow the direction of Council as discussed in Closed Session RVC2025-03 – Intergovernmental Update.

Council moved into a closed session to consider the confidential item “Strategic Initiative Update” under Sections 24 and 25 of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP). Council moved back into the public session, and approved for Administration to follow Council’s direction as discussed in Closed Session RVC2025-05 – Strategic Initiative Update.
