Sewer Backup in Langdon Update - August 22, 2024

Update #1 at 12pm August 22, 2024.  

Attention Langdon residents 

Rocky View County is aware and is working to address a sewer back up issue happening right now in the Hamlet of Langdon. Some residents are experiencing sewage back up in their homes. Crews are actively working to resolve this, and we will provide updates when we have more information.  

If you are experiencing sewer back up, please call 403-230-1401 to give your name and address so we can let crews know that your home is affected. 

Update #2 at 2:30pm August 22, 2024 

Crews have contained the sewer backup in Langdon and remain onsite to monitor the situation.  The backup affected several residents in the Hanson subdivision. If you have experienced a backup in your home, please let Rocky View County know by calling or emailing: 403-230-1401, questions@rockyview.ca. This will help crews know where the backups occurred. If you have sewage backup in your home, notify your insurance agency immediately. If you are on vacation, please have someone check your home. 

UPDATE #3  4:45 p.m. Aug. 22, 2024  

As of 4:45 p.m. crews remain in Langdon monitoring and investigating the sewer backup situation.  As people return home from work and check their houses this evening, we may hear of additional homes impacted.  If you have sewage in your home, contact your insurance company immediately and follow their instructions and guidance. Please let our call centre know as well so crews can be aware of areas in Langdon affected by the backup. 403-230-1401 or email questions@rockyview.ca.   

A preliminary investigation has occurred, and we are confident a resolution has been found and the problem has been solved. All systems are working properly. We do not believe there will be more issues or that more households will be affected this evening. All homes in Langdon can use water, toilets, and drains as normal.   

Unless something unexpected happens tonight, we will provide another situational update Friday morning.

Update #4, 11:50AM Friday August 23, 2024  

 As of this morning, we are pleased to report that the sewer backup issue in Langdon has been fully resolved, and no further impacts are expected. The cause is still under investigation. Our teams have learned, from residents' self-reporting, that approximately 8 homes were affected by this incident. We encourage you to let us know if you were affected by calling or emailing our Call Centre: 403-230-1401, questions@rockyview.ca. Crews remain on standby, but all systems are functioning properly, and we do not anticipate any additional problems. You should not experience any problems with your plumbing. Drinking water was unaffected by this incident and remains safe. 

We understand this has been a challenging situation for those impacted, and we truly empathize with the disruption this has caused. Please know that our teams worked diligently to address the issue as quickly as possible, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation throughout.
