Rocky View County's Newest Partnership

Rocky View County is the first municipality to have a formalized agreement with the Distress Centre Calgary.  This agreement allows the organizations to work together to provide information to residents and concerned citizens during and after an emergency, crisis or disaster in our county.  By calling the Distress Centre (the Regional Service Partner of 211 Alberta), everyone will have an uncomplicated, easy way to receive updates, find directions, and get resources in a worrisome time.

In the event of a disaster, our Emergency Management response team will update the Distress Centre, ensuring 211 Alberta public information and referral line can answer calls.  Partnerships like this, is one example of how the County is committed to being prepared. Planning for unexpected events is crucial to the safety of our community.

Distress Centre Calgary and its 211 Alberta Regional Service Partner, answers hundreds of contacts every day about social, health, community, government, and related services. A caller could be anyone: an individual, a service provider, a business owner, a regulated professional, a government employee, or even an elected official. The 211 Alberta public information and referral line is accessible on a 24-hour basis and is supported by a searchable resource database of over 35,000 services, which can be found online at www.ab.211.ca.

During an emergency, 211 Alberta supports communities by providing authoritative, non-emergency information to residents (e.g. road closures, the location of evacuation centres, services, safety precautions, resources that emerge in response to said events, etc.).

211 Alberta alleviates the burden of non-emergency calls to 911 and allows emergency responders to focus on response.

Rocky View County is excited to have a formalized partnership agreement, making it easy for residents to access critical information during an emergency.
