General Business
Council voted to appoint Kristyn Lines as the Agricultural Fieldman for Rocky View County in accordance with Section 8(1) of the Agricultural Services Board Act.
Council voted to approve a budget adjustment to accept a $2.4 million funding contribution from Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors for Highway 1 and Range Road 33 interchange improvements. Council also directed Administration to sign the Memorandum of Agreement between the County and Transportation and Economic Corridors.
Council voted to approve a budget adjustment of $29,800 to carry-over surplus 2023 Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) funds to be used in 2024 for eligible FCSS programming.
Council approved a motion first read into the record on July 9, 2024, directing Administration to evaluate the potential for re-establishing a Policy Review Committee and report back with their findings and recommendations no later than the October 8, 2024 Council meeting. This item will be debated at the July 23, 2024 Council meeting.
Council approved a motion first read into the record on July 9, 2024, directing Administration to complete an assessment of probable costs to implement a sustainable stormwater strategy and parking lot paving of the Langdon Park and report back to Council for consideration by Q4 of 2024. This item will be debated at the July 23, 2024 Council meeting.
Planning and Development
Division 6 – File: PL20230114 (03336011), Bylaw C-8552-2024, Redesignation Item: To assess redesignation of Block 1, Plan 731648 within SW-36-23-28-W04M from Residential, Rural District to Residential, Country Residential District o facilitate future subdivision of one ± 0.87 hectare (± 2.16 acre) lot, one ± 0.84 hectare (± 2.07 acre) lot, leaving a ± 0.87 hectare (± 2.16 acre) remainder. Considered under the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board Growth Plan. Approved.
Division 2 – File: PL20230099 (05802007), Bylaw C-8551-2024, Redesignation Item: To assess redesignation of a ± 5.72 hectare (± 14.13 acre) portion of SW-2-25-4-W05M from Agricultural General District to Industrial, Light District to facilitate future development of an RV storage and storage unit facility. Considered under the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board Growth Plan. Refused.
Division 5 – File: PL20210134 and PL20210135 (06422001/06422004/06422018/06422114), Bylaw C-8544-2024 and Bylaw C-8545-2024, Local Plan and Redesignation Item: To consider conceptual scheme and redesignation applications to facilitate country residential development within the Balzac East Area Structure Plan. PL20210134: To consider the Butte Hills East Conceptual Scheme that will provide the policy framework to guide future redesignation and subdivision applications for the development of a country residential community. PL20210135: To redesignate the NE & SE-22-26-29-W04M from Agriculture, General District to Residential, Country Residential District, Special, Public Service District, Special, Parks and Recreation District, and Special, Natural Open Space District, in order to facilitate the creation of 109 two-acre residential lots. Considered under the City of Airdrie/Rocky View County Intermunicipal Development Plan, and the Balzac East Area Structure Plan. Approved as amended.
Council voted to approve Roads and Transportation Bylaw C-8427-2024 intended to replace Roads and Transportation Bylaw C-5775-2003 to reflect best practices, current legislation, and County needs based on reoccurring issues and area growth.
Council voted to approve Bylaw C-8536-2024 intended to amend Election Sign Bylaw C-8124-2021 to standardize setback distances in the bylaw, clarify how setback distances are measured, and revise the enforcement sections of the bylaw.
