Rocky View County responding to grass fire in Springbank

The fire in Springbank has been contained and extinguished as of 8:00 p.m. Fire crews will stay on site throughout the evening to monitor for hot spots. Thank you to the Springbank community for your cooperation, it played a crucial role in our safe and effective response to this situation.

UPDATE #2 @ 7:25 P.M.
The fire in Springbank is currently being held, and crews will continue working throughout the evening to extinguish any hot spots. The fire's location on a forested hillside made ground efforts challenging, but air support was successfully used to prevent the spread. Fire protection remains in place for nearby homes.
We extend our gratitude to Alberta Forest Protection Services and fire departments from Springbank, Bearspaw, Elbow Valley, Cochrane, Calgary, and Redwood Meadows for their collaborative efforts in controlling and extinguishing the fire.
Affected residents may still choose to evacuate to Springbank Park for All Seasons, where accommodations and other supports for families and pets are available. For your safety, please continue to follow instructions from local authorities.

A confirmed fire has been reported near Springbank, east of the airport. Rocky View County Fire Services and the RCMP are responding. Affected residents are being asked to evacuate to Springbank Park for All Seasons. Please follow the instructions from local authorities. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
