Emergency Preparedness Session for Livestock Owners Hosted by DMC Stables and Rocky View County Fire Services
Monday, May 6, 2024
On Sunday, May 26, from 10 am to 12 pm, DMC Stables in collaboration with Rocky View County Fire Services will be conducting a unique and specialized emergency preparedness session tailored for community members who own barns and livestock.
Recognizing the paramount importance of disaster planning and risk awareness, DMC Stables, under the guidance of manager Rochelle Tardif, has dedicated years to developing a comprehensive emergency preparedness plan for her operation. This session presents an invaluable opportunity for Rochelle and other community members to engage in meaningful discussions, sharing insights and best practices garnered through firsthand experiences.
Rocky View County Fire Services, a staunch advocate for proactive emergency response strategies, emphasizes the significance of pre-established plans in facilitating swift and effective interventions during crises. Understanding the nuances of animal management during emergencies—such as identification, relocation, containment, and access to water sources—is paramount, especially considering the geographical challenges often faced by farms and acreages situated at a distance from conventional water supplies.
During the session, DMC Stables will provide essential guidance on crafting emergency plans, preemptive considerations, and actionable steps to be taken in the event of a catastrophic occurrence. Livestock owners without existing emergency preparedness plans or those in the process of fortifying their readiness are encouraged to seek clarifications from the knowledgeable Fire Services team and pick up valuable resources designed to aid in planning.
This collaborative effort between DMC Stables and Rocky View County Fire Services underscores a shared commitment to fostering resilience within the community, ensuring the safety and well-being of both human and animal populations in times of adversity.
Interested participants are urged to mark their calendars and come out to bolster their emergency readiness. The event is free.
