Province Agrees to Highway 9 Safety Review
Tuesday, August 14, 2018
Alberta Transportation has agreed to Rocky View County’s request for a safety review of Highway 9, between Highway 1 and the Town of Beiseker.
On May 22, the County sent a letter to Alberta’s Minister of Transportation requesting the review after a crash that killed three people and seriously injured a child. The highway in this area is characterized by several sweeping curves and a variety of passing and no passing zones that have seen numerous accidents in the past.
Minister Brian Mason has written to the County indicating that he has directed his department to conduct a formal safety review, with completion targeted for late September. The results of the review will then be shared with the County.
