Transfer of 101 Street to Rocky View County

Rocky View County and the City of Calgary have completed a jurisdictional change regarding 101 Street from Lower Springbank Road to just north of Highway 8. Following a collaborative decision, the Government of Alberta has authorized the transfer of 101 Street from the City of Calgary to Rocky View County through a Province of Alberta Order in Council issued November 29, 2023. This comes after the construction of the West Calgary Ring Road, which led to 101 Street serving primarily County residents. Direct access to Highway 8 has been permanently closed due to construction of the West Calgary Ring Road.

This move is a result of strategic collaboration between the County and the City, aimed at better serving community needs. The transfer is expected to offer operational cost savings and maintenance efficiency.
