County Fire and Flood Home Protection Program Launches

Rocky View County is offering free home protection assessments for fire and floods to help people stay safe and sound.

This innovative program, funded by a $1.4 million grant through the Canadian Red Cross Society, will help people identify and reduce their fire or flood risk through home assessments.

Up to 150 flood home protection assessments, valued at $475 each, will be provided for free on a first-come, first-served basis. The service will be performed by professionals from AET Group.

An unlimited number of fire assessments will be provided for free, with the work done by Rocky View County Fire Services.

Applications for the free assessments can be found at www.rockyview.ca/protect.

Following the assessments, applicants can apply for a grant of up to $9,000 to help make safety improvements, thanks to the Canadian Red Cross Society’s generous support of the program.

“This unique fire and flood assessment program is part of our work to build resiliency into our communities, and actively manage potential threats,” says Rocky View County Reeve Greg Boehlke. “This program and our partnership with the Red Cross helps us achieve the goal of keeping Rocky Viewers safe.”
