Council Decisions: January 11, 2022

Here is a brief summary of the decisions of Rocky View County Council at the January 11, 2022 Council Meeting. This is a general overview of decisions only. General Business

  • Council voted to support the Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation’s request for a letter of support for the Documentary Heritage Communities Program Grant to complete the digitization of their large archive of brand files, including their audio and visual collection, to enable easier public access.
  • Council received, for information, an update on the 2022 Council Priorities and Significant Issues list, including all active, ongoing, and pending priorities and initiatives to assist council on the status of business items.
  • Council received, for information, a presentation from the Calgary Metropolitan Region Board entitled “An Introduction to the CMRB” to provide background and context on various Board functions, including its mandate, Interim Growth Plan, Dispute Resolution & Appeal Bylaw, Regional Growth Plan, and Servicing Plan.

Planning and Development

  • Division 6 – File: PL20210039 (04334004 & 04334011), Bylaw C-8245-2021, Redesignation Item: To redesignate two parcels being ± 4.080 ha (± 10.08 ac) & ± 59.86 ha (± 147.93 ac) from Agricultural, General District to Special, Future Urban Development District to facilitate a truck parking lot on a portion of the ± 59.86 ha (± 147.93 ac) parcel. Considered under the Conrich Area Structure Plan. Refused. Council then approved a referring motion directing Administration to work with the applicants once the Conrich Area Structure Plan amendments have been approved by Council.
  • Division 3 – File: PL20210045 (06708013), Bylaw C-8247-2021, Redesignation Item: To redesignate the subject lands from Agricultural, Small Parcel District (p.12.1) to Residential, Rural District to accommodate subdivision of a ± 7.28 ha (± 18.00 ac) parcel, with a ± 7.15 ha (± 17.66 ac) remainder. Considered under the Bearspaw Area Structure Plan. Approved with amendments.
  • Division 5 – File: PL20210047 (06422021), Bylaw C-8246-2021, Redesignation Item: To redesignate the subject lands from Residential, Rural District to Residential, Country Residential District to facilitate subdivision of a ± 0.81 ha (± 2.00 ac) parcel with a ± 0.81 ha (± 2.00 ac) remainder. Considered under the Balzac East Area Structure Plan, and the Butte Hills Conceptual Scheme. Approved.
  • Division 3 – File: PL20210016 (06826038), Bylaw C- 8159-2021, Redesignation Item: To redesignate the subject lands from Residential Rural District to Residential, Country Residential District to facilitate the creation of a single ± 0.81 hectare (±1.99 acre) lot with a ± 0.81 hectare (± 1.99 acre) remainder. Considered under the Cochrane North Area Structure Plan. Approved.

  • Division 3 – File: PL20210172 (10013010 /10013320), Bylaw C-8254-2021: To amend Direct Control District 123 to allow Vacation Rental as a use. First Reading approved.

  • Division 6 – File: PL20210180 (03322007), Bylaw C-8253-2021: To redesignate the subject lands from Agricultural, General District to Business, Live-Work District to accommodate a future truck repair business. First Reading approved.
  • Division 6 – File: PL20210181 (03314014), Bylaw C-8255-2021: To redesignate the subject lands from Agricultural, Small Parcel District (p8.1) to Business, Live-Work District to accommodate future business development. First Reading approved.
