Christmas at CrossIron

Understanding the role of County Peace Officers at the mall.

CrossIron Mills is one of North America’s most successful shopping centres, and that’s never more obvious than on a weekend during the holiday season. Vehicle traffic volumes soar, and you’ll often see Rocky View County Peace Officers helping with the shopping experience by controlling traffic lights and intersections to ease the strain.

County Peace Officers assisting with traffic control are not funded by tax payers, and the work doesn’t take a single officer off regular duty elsewhere. The County receives special funding from the mall for the service.

While on this special duty, a Peace Officer’s main role is to primarily ease traffic congestion and ensure public safety. Peace Officers are not looking to issue tickets, but they also can’t ignore obvious violations.
