Become a Firefighter

Employment with Rocky View Fire Services is challenging and rewarding. Fire Services proudly serves our growing and vibrant County with a composite fire suppression model made up of full-time, part-time, and volunteer members.

Every member is a dedicated trained professional with a high level of competency, who places a high value on the services provided to our residents, friends, and neighbours.

Rocky View Fire Services maintains four full-time composite fire stations in Springbank, Elbow Valley, Balzac, and Bearspaw, and three Paid-Per-Call (volunteer) stations in Langdon, Irricana, and Madden. The Fire Services team consists of 110 part-time firefighters, 120 Paid-Per-Call (Volunteer) Firefighters, 24 full-time firefighters, three district chiefs, a deputy chief, and a fire chief.

General Requirements

Minimum requirements for all firefighters:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Physically fit
  • Non-GDL driver’s licence
  • Clean criminal record, medical clearance, and driver’s abstract
  • Standard First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certificate
